Our Governors

Kew College is a registered charity. The charity’s trustees are also the school’s governors.

Membership of the governing body is by invitation from the existing governing body. The governing body seeks to ensure that its members have a good balance of skills and expertise which are considered desirable for the strategic management of an independent primary school. Governors are encouraged to undertake training in appropriate areas. Conflicts of interest are monitored to ensure that they do not influence decisions taken by governors.

The Work of the Governors

The Kew College Governors, as the trustees of the Charity, are legally responsible for the overall management and control of the school and meet at least six times a year.

The work of implementing their policies is carried out by three sub-committees: the Finance Committee, the Staffing Committee and the Health and Safety Committee (which includes an external consultant and three members of staff) and a governor also sits on the Communications Committee (which includes staff and co-opted parents). The committees meet as required, but at least three times a year and report regularly to the main governing body. The Board of Governors is responsible for the management of the risks faced by the school. A risk register is maintained. Risks are considered at Board meetings at least once a year.

The day to day running of the school is delegated to the Headteacher, who is supported by her Senior Management team.

You may contact the Chairman of Governors via the School Office.
