Kew College is inspected regularly by the Independent Schools Inspectorate
Whole School Inspection
In November 2006, Kew College was inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. As part of the report’s overall conclusion, it was found that:
Pupils achieve high standards at every stage and are successful in entrance examinations to selective independent schools. They achieve well in competitions and activities. Pupils are articulate; they listen effectively, read intelligently and write fluently. They study and work very well both on their own and with others. Pupils demonstrate high levels of spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Teaching is very effective in enabling pupils to achieve high standards in most lessons. High quality pastoral care is provided. Curriculum planning is very thorough, the provision for pupils with learning difficulties is well organised and support for pupils who are learning English as an additional language is effective. The links with parents are strong. The school benefits from high quality governance. Positive leadership ensures high standards and that most of the school aims are met.
Early Years Department
Our Early Years classes (Nursery and Kindergarten) were inspected by OFSTED (Office for Standards in Education) in June 2008, although responsibility for future inspections has been transfered to the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
The report found that:
Staff are very kind, caring and approachable, creating a warm and calming environment in which children flourish. Staff and children enjoy good relationships with each other; staff listen intently to the children and respond to their needs and choices. Staff are exceptionally well organised, meaning children are confident and happy as they learn. The children have a positive attitude to learning and they spend extended periods concentrating on their chosen activities.
The inspection concluded that the quality and standards of the nursery education are Outstanding, OFSTED’s highest grade.
