At Kew College, our French curriculum teaches pupils how to use and respond to the foreign language,
French lessons are taught to pupils from Years 1 to 6 at Kew College. Multimedia plays a large part in our French lessons; with music, interactive software and drama used regularly.
In Years 1 to 4, pupils learn the basic foundations of the French language and culture.
Pupils are taught familiar themes such as:
- Greeting others
- Name
- Address
- Age
- Colours
- Numbers
- Pets
- Days & months
- Family
In Years 5 & 6, pupils build on these foundations, in particular, the Verbs “avoir” and “ĕtre” – two important auxiliaries- and some first group verbs.
In Years 5 & 6, pupils also learn in more details topics such as:
- Towns & culture
- Directions
- School and school objects
- Time
- Weather
- Numbers up to 200
- Currency
- Likes and dislikes
- Food
- Leisure activities
- Clothes and fashion
