Children are immersed in music from the very beginning of their school life.

We have a well-equipped music suite which includes individual music rooms for instrumental lessons. In class music lessons, all children take part in singing, practical instrumental work, listening and rehearsing for our concerts and performances.

Creative instrumental work is influenced by the Carl Orff approach, where musical skills and understanding are developed through improvising, performing, listening and working with traditional and invented notations, as soloists and ensemble players and singers.

Children are encouraged to undertake graded music examinations with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music; they are entered for these examinations by the individual music teachers. For more information about our individual instrument lessons, click here.

Each year, children in our Early Years classes perform Christmas plays for parents and friends. Years Two to Six perform in our much anticipated Christmas Carol Concert, held at the beautiful Parish Church of St. Anne on Kew Green.

Children perform for parents, staff and their peers in Spring Concerts for each year group, which involve singing, solo and small group instrumental performances.

Most summer terms, Years One to Six perform in our annual school production; a combined drama and musical production. Rehearsals for the school production are always a highlight for our pupils, and the high standard of each performance seems to get better every year!

The School choir is open to children by audition from Year 3 onwards. Rehearsals are held on Mondays after school.  The String orchestra practises on Wednesdays after school and the Wind band, directed by the Woodwind teacher, rehearses on Friday during lunch.
