We took the first centre pass, Ilana passed to Mia ,and she passed to Honor who passed to Gemma. Gemma shot our first goal. When the whistle blew Ilana intercepted the ball and passed it to Gemma who shot our second goal. The sun was shining in our eyes making it hard to see but even so we attempted as many goals as we could. Unfortunately, Honor had a tall player marking her and she prevented her from shooting. When the whistle blew we panted over to have a team talk between ourselves. The game became harder as Ravenscourt Park dodged and intercepted. Then the whistle blew at the end of the last third. After an encouraging talk with Mrs. Tabor, we ran back on. Ravenscourt took the centre pass and they swiftly passed and they shot their first goal. Ilana passed to me and I passed to Gemma who shot our final goal. The end score was 3 - 1 to Kew College. Well done to all the girls who played. Sadly they scored the first try but we bounced back when I who was scrum half passed to Pat, fly half, and then he passed to Oisin who was centre. He sprinted down the pitch and finished with a skilful try. The score was 5 - 5 at the break. The second half began by me passing to Luke, who passed it to Amar and he scored a great try. Sadly, St James’s scored a try to make the score level at 10-10. After some superb sprinting by Huw, Oisin then provided Kew College with a try and excellent team work was displayed by Kew College. We were playing against St James’s. We got off to a good start with Joseph S powering down the pitch and scoring our first try. St James’s got one try back before Joseph S scored another try for Kew College. With a third try from Thomas A, the match ended in a draw 3-3. Well done everyone in the B team. Oliver C 4F We started off very nervous for our first game against St. James’s. The game started off quite tense when the referee blew the whistle to start the game. Daniel B passed it to me and I then passed to Luca, who passed it to Joseph S. Joseph S made a scorching run and scored!!! The referee blew the whistle and accepted the try. Daniel B started off and did a brilliant pass to Lachie and he passed it straight to me. I tried to run through the crowd but didn’t make it. St. James’s got the ball and scored a try. The whistle blew for half-time and the score was 1-1. Mr A gave us a bit of a boost with a team chat. St. James’s started with the ball. I tackled them and passed it to Oliver , he then passed it to Lachie. It went down the line to Daniel K who passed it to Joseph S who made a striking run once again with a try. The score was 2-1!!! St. James’s made a quick recovery and ran down the wing and scored. They then scored another try and then I followed with my tricks and skills and scored a try for Kew College. It ended 3-3 and we were feeling quite excited and joyful that we had a great first match. I think we should improve on running faster. We are all really looking forward to our next game. We were all delighted to play our first competitive rugby game. The referee let St James’s pick which hand the coin was in. They picked the right hand, but let Calum choose Kew College to kick off first. I was scrum half so I started the game off. We passed along the line and we scored the first try of the match. We started again and we did well to get the ball back, with some good tackles from George, Calum and Patrick and good attacking from Ned, Charles and Patrick. Then Ben scored a brilliant try. We carried on, and with some amazing passes from Ned, George, Patrick and Ben, we scored our third try. The whistle went for half time. The half time score was 3-0 to Kew. We had an encouraging talk from Robert’s dad, Laurence, and we made a substitution. We were ready for the second half. St James’s took the kick off and had good opportunities but we did some amazing defending, we got the ball back and scored a try. We had the ball and then we lost it again, but we put pressure on them and they dropped the ball on the try line. Patrick dived and scored our fifth try. After some good defending from Kew College, St James’s just managed to score a try. We held them off our try line for a bit and then the whistle went and we were glad that we had won 5-1. I think we need to work on supporting each other but we did really well in our passing and defending. Well done to everybody that played in the match: Patrick, Calum, George, Ben, Charles, Soli, Ned and me! Matthew 5L And Bravo To The ‘B’s On Thursday 19th January Year 5 B team played a match against St. James’s. The match started with nervousness, intenseness, excitement and eagerness. Before the game Mr. Morey gave us an encouraging talk and sorted out our positions. Next thing we knew we were jogging on to the pitch listening to the thunderous, ear-deafening cheers of the Year 5 A team. We lined up into our positions and started the game. We began the match well with Ned scoring a try within minutes! Ned scored four more tries after that! Soli was like a bullet and scored two tries as well! Fredrick was amazing when it came to hooking the ball back out of the scrum! I made some great tackles! Edward, Shachar, Noah and Robert were the other ingredients to our dominating formula! The mighty St James’s team were not able to score one try!  The end score was 7-0! For our next match, I think we need to work on moving into formations faster!  A HUGE thank you to our excellent coach Mr Morey!  Well done Kew College Year 5 B team! The nerves were kicking in as tension rose, we were a few seconds away from the start of the match. The whistle blew, we all raced to the centre of the pitch. Edie passed as Olivia ran in to grab the ball but she tripped and fell so after a drink we were back in play. With a few impressive passes from St. James’s we worked to pick up our game. Edie sprinted around the court and with some sneaky passes from Emilia and then Jessica managed to score a goal. We all triumphantly jumped for joy. But before we knew it the ball was at the other end of the pitch. Annabel defended like mad but unfortunately St. James’s scored again and then again! The whistle blew for half time. Still determined, we rushed over to Mrs Links and she talked to us about our spacing and defending and then we were off again. Now wanting to win even more we strode onto the pitch. Emilia and Edie passed and dodged and we finally managed another goal. But St. James’s weren’t prepared to lose to us that easily and managed to score another two goals. With some quick thinking we managed to score again.  The score was now 6 - 3 to St. James’s, we still needed 3 more points. As hard as we defended we couldn’t stop them from scoring.  The whistle blew and we all rushed in to hear the final score and to our disappointment it was 8 - 3 to St. James’s. I think we need to work on our defending, well done to all the girls who played so well. After many tries from both teams the whistle blew for second half. Unluckily no goals were scored. We swapped a few positions and got back on the pitch. Orchard House got the first pass and attempted to score, then Tilly got the ball. We tried to score but we did not get it in, we tried a lot of times to score but none got in. The final score was 0 - 0. I think we should improve our shooting. Well done to Year 3B team. By Anya Y3 On Tuesday 17th January Kew College Year 3 B Team played a netball match against Orchard House. The sun was shining and Anya had the first centre pass. She passed the ball up the pitch, Kate passed to me and I tried to shoot, but missed. In the first half there were a lot of good passes but no goals. The second half was more feisty with lots of quick passing but no goals from either side. The whistle blew with a final score of 0-0. I think we need to practice on dodging our opposition for the ball and moving the ball up the pitch faster. Well done to everyone who played. By Rose Y3 C’s Equalize In Second Half On Tuesday 17th January Year 3 C Team played a match against Orchard House. First Mrs Mayer gave us some tactics, then I had to pick heads or tails, I chose heads. Heads came up! Then I picked Centre Pass. We then got into our positions and the whistle blew. Nerys passed to Olympia who then passed to me and I tried to shoot but I missed. Then it went off-court and the person I was marking passed to someone else on her team. Then they nearly scored but Nerys caught the ball and passed to Olympia.  She tried to pass to me but missed. Then Olympia got the ball back and passed it to me. I tried to shoot again, but unfortunately, I missed and the ball went off the court! Then it was half time and Mrs Mayer discussed tactics. Soon after the second half began Orchard House scored a goal. Then Olympia scored for Kew College! We were delighted. The whistle blew, it was a draw 1 – 1. We played well and our passing was good but we should improve on our shooting. They passed quickly and tried to score but missed. Emma passed the ball and we got it to our end, but the other team intercepted and they then had control of the ball and scored. The whistle blew, we were disappointed, but determined to do better in the second half. Miss Bauman suggested some tactics for the second half and we were all ready to play again.  Isobel started by passing to Emaan, Zimi managed to find some space and got the ball then she passed to me and I scored. The score was one all. Ravenscourt started again and Isobel intercepted a pass which resulted in us scoring again. The match ended 2-1 to Kew College, well done to the team. Suki 4L B is for Brilliant On Tuesday 10th January Year 4 B team played against Ravenscourt Park. Ravenscourt Park had the first centre pass, but Kew College intercepted the ball and Francine managed to score. It was Kew College’s centre pass. Heather passed to Lauren, Lauren then passed to Bella, and Bella scored our second goal. It was now halftime, after an encouraging talk with Mrs.Tabor we were ready to play the second half. Ravenscourt Park got the ball to the end of the pitch, but Kew College retrieved it and we managed a third goal scored by Bella. At the end it was 3-0 to Kew College. Well done to all the girls who played.  Ella Rose 4F A is for Admirable On Tuesday 10th January Year 4 girls A team played a netball match against Ravenscourt. Ravenscourt had the first centre pass. Miss Mayer blew her whistle and the match began. The ball was quickly intercepted by Tanishya and passed down the court. With the help of Millie and Isabella the ball managed to get into the semi-circle. Thanks to the great team work of the shooters, Jessica and Georgia, the first goal was scored. Centre pass for Kew College. The ball was intercepted by Molly and passed to Tanishya. The shooters worked together to get the ball through the hoop again. Amelia did some excellent defence and only let one goal through. At half time the score was 2-1 to Kew College. At half time we went off for an encouraging talk. We all came back on feeling confident. Ravenscourt managed to get another goal, but luckily thanks to great team work from Kew College we managed to get another goal. Centre pass let Ravenscourt score a last second goal. The whistle blew and the final score was 3-3. I think we need to work on quicker passes. Well done to all the girls who played. Unfortunately, a few of our usual players were absent, but Jessica, Jade and Edie from Year 5 were available to take their places. Kew had the first pass. Seconds later, Jessica had the ball and scored a goal and we were in the lead. Everyone on the team, especially Katie, did some amazing marking, but despite this we were unable to stop Falcons from scoring 6 goals. The final score was 1-6 but even so, we all played our hardest and the Year 5’s were brilliant. It was very windy but we didn’t mind. Miss Bauman blew the whistle and the match began. We started with the ball, Emma at Centre passed to Ella Rose, who passed to Georgia, who passed to me and I had a go at shooting. The ball went off court and we didn’t get a goal. Then it started with Falcons goal keeper who passed along to their side and tried to score a goal but we got the ball back and started passing it up our side. A few minutes later it was half time. We had an encouraging talk with Miss Bauman about spacing out and zig-zagging down the pitch, then we got back onto the pitch and got into our positions. We started the second half with Falcons having the ball, but we got the ball back and started passing it up our side. We tried for another goal but didn’t make it and the ball went back to Falcons side. The match ended and the score was nil-nil. Well done to Kew College and all who played in that match. I think we need to work on spacing out a bit more. We were all very excited and nervous as our matches against Latymer are usually very closely fought, last year we lost by only two points! The event got underway with an exciting butterfly race with Kew College gaining second place. Then came the backstroke races starting with the Year 3’s who are new to the Kew College Galas. We were all very impressed with their skill and determination. As the backstroke races continued we gained first or second place in most of the races and in some we were first and second. The excitement mounted as we went through breaststroke and freestyle races with Kew College continuing their winning streak in many of them. Next were the relay races. Unfortunately Amar could not attend the gala so Clemmie stepped in to cover his leg in the medley relay and she swam brilliantly, although she was very nervous about this. All the relay races were extremely exciting with many close finishes. The squadron relay was particularly close and apparently if my arm was an inch longer we would have won! Latymer have not lost a swimming gala this year so we waited with our hearts in our mouths for the final score. Latymer 142, announced the coach, Kew College 160! On Thursday 17th November the ‘A’ team played against Kew Green Prep. We were all feeling very nervous, but we were ready. I was captain. It was centre pass to Kew College. Jasmine passed to Georgia who passed to Jasmine . Everyone was shouting for the ball, but then she passed to Olivia M 3S , then she tried to shoot. Kew Green got the ball but the player passed to one of her friends who dropped it. It was Kew College’s ball. We all passed it so we could score a goal. Olivia M 3S scored and it was 1-0 to Kew College. That was half-time. It was time for the second half. Kew Green Prep got the centre pass ball, but the pass was won by Kew College. It was Olivia H’s ball and she passed to me. Then I passed to Olivia M 3S but she didn’t shoot. It was 1-0 to Kew College ‘A’ team and then we won! I think we need to work on our dodging! The umpire put her ring in her hands and asked our captain Lauren to pick a hand – unfortunately, she chose the hand without the ring. So the other team started and the match began! Kew Green were really tough but we managed to score a goal in the first half and another goal in the second half. We won 2—0! I think we could work on our spacing out for next time.
